Sea pink - Armeria maritima

Maximum height: 5-30 cm.
Appearance: Simple leaves forming a cushion. The flowers are bright pink and may be found between April and October.
Depth: Above high tide level.
Feeding: Sea pink is a producer. It makes its own food by photosynthesis. It has chlorophyll.
Environment: Sea pink grows on rocks above the splash zone. It is common on sea cliffs and salt marshes.
Other facts: Sea pink is also known as Thrift. It copes with its salty environment by having narrow, fleshy leaves growing in a cushion. It has a low surface area for water loss.
