Spirorbis

Maximum length: 3-4 mm.
Appearance: White, smooth coiled shell, closely attached to large algae such as serrated wrack or corallina.
Depth: On algae on middle to lower shore.
Feeding: Spirorbis is a consumer. It filters tiny food particles out of the water using tentacles that open out when the tide is in.
Environment: Different spirorbis species are found on different algae.
Other facts: The hard shell is strengthened with calcium.
Classification: Spirorbis is a member of the invertebrate animal group annelida.
