Hastate orache - Atriplex hastata

Maximum length: 20 cm.
Appearance: Green, mealy, triangular lower leaves, the base of each leaf is at right angles with the stalk.
Depth: On land.
Feeding: Orache is a producer. It makes its own food by photosynthesis. It has chlorophyll just like most land plants.
Environment: Orache grows on sand at and above the strandline. 
Other facts: It is one of the primary colonisers that start the process of dune formation.
Classification: Orache is a member of the angiosperm plant group.
